SIP: Wireless Display Interface

Problem

Physical HDMI and DisplayPort cables are still commonly required to connect computers and other hardware to external monitors. These cables can create clutter and limit flexibility for users who want cleaner setups or easier connections between devices.

Innovation Claim

A motherboard-integrated wireless display system would replace the physical video cable with a dedicated, low-latency wireless connection designed specifically for high-resolution and high-refresh-rate GPU output.

Project Description

This project will develop a proof-of-concept wireless display system with a transmitter integrated into the computer and a receiver integrated into the monitor. The prototype will explore wireless video transmission, bandwidth, latency, reliability, and automatic display configuration while demonstrating how the system could eventually be integrated directly into computer and monitor hardware.

SIP: Wireless Display Interface

  • Problem: Fragmented wireless screen sharing standards in academic settings.
  • Innovation Claim: A low-latency, cross-platform protocol using adaptive bitrate encoding.
  • Project Description: Conceptualizing and prototyping a unified wireless interface for real-time collaboration.
